Artist's Description

I have to confess that this is one of my all time favorite photographs. We came across a herd of desert bighorn sheep while waiting to enter the tunnel on the Mount Carmel Highway in Zion National Park. It looks as if I'm standing on a ledge just below this magnificent creature. In reality, I was standing on the road about a hundred feet below and using a very long lens. I love the juxtaposition of the three elements of this photo, the sheep, the sky and the mountain.

I first began enjoying photography in the 1960s, back in the days of Kodachrome, Extachrome, Tri-X, Plus-X, Ilford, Fuji, and all the other wonderful films we had back then. I shot portraits, headshots, model portfolios, little league teams, rock bands, babies, weddings, bar mitzvahs, and anything else that would pay me a few bucks. I then took a detour for the better part of four decades and became a TV director. Thirty five years and eighteen thousand broadcasts later, I retired and returned to my original passion of photography. My wife Leslie also came from a strong photographic background. In fact, we met when I was dropping off some Tri-X at her family's custom black and white photo lab in West Los Angeles. You'll probably find...
