Maluaka Beach in Makena is one of the hidden gems on the Island of Maui. You probably won't find it in the tourist guides, but it's worth the effort. The black lava rocks are probably remnants of Haleakala's last eruption a few hundred years ago.
I first began enjoying photography in the 1960s, back in the days of Kodachrome, Extachrome, Tri-X, Plus-X, Ilford, Fuji, and all the other wonderful films we had back then. I shot portraits, headshots, model portfolios, little league teams, rock bands, babies, weddings, bar mitzvahs, and anything else that would pay me a few bucks. I then took a detour for the better part of four decades and became a TV director. Thirty five years and eighteen thousand broadcasts later, I retired and returned to my original passion of photography. My wife Leslie also came from a strong photographic background.
